Sorry it's been so long since my last update. We're currently 23 weeks 1 day along with a little boy. We found out the sex just a couple of weeks ago, it wasn't really a shock. We've all thought of him as a little boy since day one.
I've had a few scares without lack of movement but after rushing along to the midwife, everything was proved to be ok. She explained to me that it could be due to placental position or just a very laid back baby. When I had the scan, the placenta is indeed anterior, there's nothing laid back about this one. He's a right little wriggler, I was just not feeling anything.
That's all changed over the last 10 days or so, he hardly ever stops!!!! Not that I'm complaining. I love to feel him wiggling about, makes me feel fantastic. My IP's are getting really excited and love my texts telling them about his movements. They've started buying things and have even started on the nursery.
It's been a very long time for them to achieve their dream, I don't think they have dared believe that this was really going to happen but it sure is. In just 17 weeks, they will be holding their long awaited son. I can't wait to see their faces when I hand this bundle of joy over to them. I feel so privileged to be a part of their dream

Getting there
Hey, we're 16 weeks 2 days and everything is going great. Think I felt the little one flutter a couple of days ago and some proper tumbling going on in there yesterday! The nausea's almost gone, and feeling great at the minute. My bump is quite prominent now and people are starting to notice that I am pregnant and not just fat. Our nuchal translucency results came back as low risk which is brilliant. Not that it would have mattered to my wonderful IP's, they're going to love this baby no matter what!
The only down side of the whole situation is the appointment i had with my consultant a couple of weeks back. He was so out of touch, he called me overweight as my BMI is currently at 31.8 but he failed to notice that for two months prior to conception I was on hormone treatment and I gained almost two stones. I don't always carry this much timber!!!!!!
He also said that at my age, of 39, I'm way too old to be carrying a child. I totally disagree with this statement as I know a lot of women way into their forties that have had very happy healthy pregnancies and gone on to have equally healthy babies.
He also did not seem to grasp the concept of surrogacy, he looked at me as if I had two heads or something when I told him that when the baby is born I will be giving it to it's parents. Some people are such bigots!!!! Luckily I don't have to see him again until 36 weeks or I would be changing consultants.
That's just about enough of me ranting on anyway, there was me telling you that everything was good!!!!!

Second scan
I hardly slept a wink last night, I was so nervous. There's so much pressure on a surrogate I think, so much more than when you're having a scan with your own child. You just want everything to be perfect and you don't want to let your couple down. In my case, they have waited almost 30 years for this child and I have been trusted to look after their child for them.
But, all my worrying was in vain. The little one never stopped wriggling and jumping everywhere. We have a very active baby on board! Also, measuring 3 days bigger than dates so we have had our due date moved forward. The radiographer really took the time to explain all the anatomy to my IPs, which I thought was really nice. We saw the little heart, bladder, kidneys and the point where the umbilical cord joins the stomach. My placenta lies right along the top so when the little one laid on his/her back her head was buried inside it! We also saw inside the tiny butterfly shaped brain. It's hard to believe how perfectly formed it is at such a young age.
I also had my nuchal translucency test and blood test. Should hear within the week if we are of a high risk. My IPs do not mind whether we are, they want this baby so much that they will continue with the pregnancy regardless.
I'll speak to you when we get our results

Quick update
Well,it's been a while since last blog so just a quick update as to where we are at the minute. We're 11 weeks 2 days, the nausea has eased a little, maybe it's with the help of medication that I got last Friday or maybe it's just the stage we're at now. I don't know and care even less, the good news is that it's going!!!!!!
Had a kidney infection which made me feel really bad over the weekend but that all seems to have cleared up now so I'm finally starting to feel human again. Lots of stretching pains when I stand up, bubba's getting big now. He's grown from the size of a grape to the size of a plum in just two weeks! Looking forward to feeling some movements soon, hopefully in the next few weeks. I think I was about 15 weeks when I felt my last baby.
Had a lot of trouble with my teeth as well, a crown and bridge that i'd had for 17 years decided to just randomly fall out so I have a lot of reconstructive dental work to look forward to over the next 2 to 3 weeks. Hopefully it's all completed by the 8th of February as that's when I go for our scan and I would hate for my IP's to see me with the gap that I have at the moment! It's not the most attractive look, what with the spotty skin, greasy hair and swollen legs!
Well, that's enough wingeing from me, speak soon
